A man set himself on fire on Friday outside the New York courthouse where he is being held. the trial for document falsification against Donald Trump.
The person was rushed on a stretcher after the fire was extinguished, at a time when the court is in session for the final selection of the alternate jurors in Trump's criminal case.
The man burned for several minutes in view of television cameras installed in front of the court, where the first criminal trial against a former president of the United States is taking place.

Authorities said the man survived. “The victim is in critical condition but she is alive and intubated,” said FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh.
Witnesses said the man pulled pamphlets from a backpack and threw them into the air before dousing himself with a liquid and setting himself on fire. One of those pamphlets, titled 'The true history of the world'included references to “evil billionaires,” but the parts that were visible to a witness from Reuters They didn't mention Trump.
Authorities said the man, who they said lived until recently in St. Augustine, Florida, did not appear to be targeting Trump or others involved in the trial.
“Right now we're describing him as some sort of conspiracy theorist and we'll go from there,” Tarrik Sheppard, deputy commissioner of the New York Police Department, said at a news conference.
The trial will keep Trump in a Manhattan courtroom for weeks, forcing him to juggle his dual role as a criminal defendant and political candidate in the context of his tight race against President Joe Biden. The process will include lewd and unflattering testimony that his opponent will no doubt exploit to try to portray him as unfit to return as commander-in-chief.
