According to official sources, a person surrendered to the Ghyvelde Gendarmerie police station claiming to be the alleged perpetrator of the fatal shooting whose motivations are unknown. The Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into the events.
According to the first indications, the deceased would have been two immigrants and two security agents shot in Loon-Plage – near the Mardyck migrant camp -, and a man in his 30s, shot dead by the alleged perpetrator in the town of Wormhout.
Loon-Plage, a small town a few kilometers from Dunkirk, is one of the busiest crossing points for immigrants and asylum seekers who want to cross clandestinely into the United Kingdom, risking their lives in the English Channel.
