The Israeli Army has reported this Friday a shooting without victims in the settlement of Shaked, southwest of Jenin (West Bank), which has subsequently been claimed by a local branch of the Al Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad.
“A report of a shooting in the Shaked settlement has been received. After searching the settlement, damage was detected in one of the houses. There are no victims,” the Israel Defense Forces have indicated on their official Twitter profile.
The shooting has occurred from outside the settlement. The Israeli Army has also reported that it has sent troops to the area to search for the suspects, who have allegedly fled the scene, according to the newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’.
For its part, the Jenin Brigade, a local branch that is part of the Al Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, has claimed responsibility for the shooting, assuring that it occurred at 5:30 a.m. (local time), as reported. Maan news agency.
This incident occurs hours after at least three Israeli policemen were injured this Friday after being run over in the Israeli town of Kafr Qasim, with an Arab majority and located east of Tel Aviv.
Tensions have risen in recent months in the West Bank and Israel after the latest attacks against Israelis, which have left more than 20 dead. In addition, Israeli forces have killed more than 220 Palestinians so far this year, following warnings from the international community about the possible outbreak of a larger-scale conflict.
