An investigative court in Seville has ordered the declaration as investigated of the ultra agitator Cristina Seguí and the television channel Estado de Alarma for alleged insults to Rubén Sánchez, journalist and general secretary of Facua. Sánchez’s complaint attributes crimes of libel or slander to them for various comments by Seguí both on the channel and on his Twitter account, attributing, for example, harassment campaigns, acts of threats and calling him a “mafioso” or “extortionist”.

Cristina Seguí, recently sentenced to compensate ex-minister José Luis Ábalos through civil proceedings for insulting him on Twitter, regularly collaborates with the ultra channel EDATV, directed by Javier Negre, and also has a Twitter account with more than 200,000 followers. It was in both media outlets that she poured the comments and insults that Rubén Sánchez has taken to court through criminal proceedings after an unsuccessful act of conciliation.
On Twitter, in May 2022, Seguí accused Sánchez of perpetrating a death threat against her through a “harassment group” called ‘RedBird’, also stating that he had published documents containing his address and various personal information. In her statements linking the general secretary of Facua to that group, she claimed to have evidence of her link to the organization “to harass, close accounts, publish personal data, and threaten politicians and journalists out of ideological hatred.”
He also attributed a threat to a relative of ultra commentator Luis ‘Alvise’ Pérez, also convicted in various civil cases. In addition, in an intervention on Javier Negre’s channel, Seguí developed her accusations against Sánchez, stating that he had the ability to “pull the phone” to get the Prosecutor’s Office to open a case against her.
Now, as elDiario.es has learned, an investigative court in Seville has decided to open preliminary proceedings, call Rubén Sánchez to ratify the complaint and has also decided to call both Seguí and the television channel itself to declare as under investigation, via videoconference, on October 17.
In his complaint, the journalist requests compensation of 50,000 euros and explains that Seguí’s hostility towards him is not limited to these recent comments about his activity on Twitter, but dates back to 2019 with other messages presented before the judges. Cristina Seguí, at the time the leader of Vox in Valencia until 2014 and currently a political commentator and author of several books against feminismhad also starred in tweets against Sánchez already in the year 2015when she was a collaborator of Ausbanc.
Cristina Seguí has already been sentenced by civil means to compensate former minister José Luis Ábalos with 6,000 euros for insulting and defaming him on his Twitter account, a sentence pending appeal before the Provincial Court of Madrid. Tweets in which, for example, he referred to the then minister as a “monster, mediocre and morally retarded product”, spoke of his “poor hygiene”, accused him of “diverting millions” through an NGO and stated, among other things , who had had several “lovers.”
