A human chain will run through Saint Denis (France) this Sunday against the extreme right

June 23. () –

A human chain summoned by the governor of Saint Denis, Stéphane Troussel, will walk through the streets of this town on the outskirts of Paris this Sunday to “resist the threats that weigh” on France and against “a project that turns its back on values of the Republic”, in reference to the advance of the extreme right.

“Since Sunday, June 9, many of you have expressed to me your anger and concern, but also your desire to get involved, to mobilize to express our attachment to the Republic, to France, to Seine-Saint-Denis, this young territory, worker and mixed in which we operate. And that is why I am giving you an appointment precisely this Sunday, June 23 at noon on the Seine-Saint-Denis channel,” he stated in a video published on his X social network account.

Troussel has motivated the organization of this event due to the “exceptional situation” that the French country is experiencing since the far-right National Group swept the elections to the European Parliament on June 9.

“The values of solidarity, equality and freedom are seriously in danger. Concern is strong especially in Seine-Saint-Denis, for what it represents, a young, popular and mixed area, which could be more than ever the target of that they caricature and insult her,” he warned in a call to citizens to attend this Sunday’s event.

In that sense, the politician has alluded to the “pride of being a diverse and popular region” with an “extraordinary creativity (…) far from clichés.” Thus, he has invited citizens to attend the march and show “the beautiful face of a multifaceted France”, accusing “some” of wanting to erase it.

“We do not want to be the first victims of a project that turns its back on our values. Because we love France, its Republic and its values, we do not want to give up,” he said.

The march, called by the socialist politician, will cover a route of 9.3 kilometers, in reference to this municipality in the Paris region known as number 93.
