MADRID 20 Nov. () –
This Wednesday, Russian security forces arrested a German citizen for his alleged involvement in a series of sabotage actions against energy facilities in the country.
The detainee, who has been identified as Nikolai Gaiduk, had entered the country through the border with Poland with the aim of “carrying out these actions”, as indicated by the Federal Security Service (FSB), which has indicated that he was involved in the March explosion against a plant responsible for distributing gas in Kaliningrad.
The authorities have specified that Gaiduk was commissioned to carry out these actions when he lived in Hamburg. These guidelines would have been given by a Ukrainian citizen, Alexander Zhorov, who resided in the same city and had a residence permit. The latter would have also given him the necessary components to make a homemade bomb, according to this information.
The authorities have opened an investigation for the commission of crimes such as explosives smuggling, charges that could carry sentences of up to seven years in prison.
