Capcom weeks ago made several announcements related to its franchise resident Evil. Among them was the launch of the multiplayer of Resident Evil Villagecalled Resident Evil Re:Verse, which Capcom had in testing for a long time. Unfortunately, it seems that the title is not captivating fans.

The game presents a novel proposal in the series, as it is a multiplayer PvP experience in which players can control heroes from the series, as well as villains.

Resident Evil Re:Verse has fewer players than resident Evil (2002)

However, there is bad news for fans as it doesn’t seem to be attracting gamers. We say this after seeing the statistics of the title on Steam. According to information from Steam Charts, at the time of writing the note only 216 users are simultaneously playing the title.

This figure is striking because it is less than that of the remake of resident Evil original (290 concurrent players); In other words, users are preferring to play a 20-year-old single-player title over a newly released multiplayer in the series (October 27, 2022). It is important to mention that Resident Evil Re:Verse is a title that is not sold separately, but is included in the purchase of Resident Evil Village either Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition.

In case you missed it: much of Capcom’s sales are digital.

It must be taken into account that Resident Evil Re:Verse it can also be played on consoles, so it’s a given that the player base is larger, but the numbers on Steam are an indicator of what could be happening on other platforms as well.

Being a multiplayer title with a game-as-a-service model, it is expected to have more players to ensure its long-term continuity. That said, it will be interesting what Capcom will do to entice users weeks or even months after release if it doesn’t want to share the fate of titles like BABYLON’S FALLwhich will stop working 1 year after its debut.
