A failure in Iberia’s systems due to connectivity problems this Saturday has caused the stoppage of its billing and boarding service in Madrid, which has caused one-hour delays in the first flights in the morning and a total of five cancellations at various airports. , as reported by the airline to Europa Press.

Iberia and Iberia Express plan to operate more than 245 flights today, of which three for this morning and another two for this afternoon have been cancelled, a total of five. In addition, it has also caused delays of an hour on average until 11.30 am.

To mitigate this situation, billing and boarding have been carried out manually and the workforce has been reinforced to expedite these procedures. 81% of affected customers have been offered a travel alternative for today and the rest will be able to fly tomorrow.

However, the entire operation with the United States and Latin America, which takes place between 12:00 and 1:00 p.m., has been able to be carried out as planned.

The failure is located in Madrid but a delay at the Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez Airport “may affect several airports,” the company added.

The Iberia group has indicated that “it is working to restore automated billing and boarding and to recover the punctuality of the operation.”

It also apologizes to all affected customers and thanks its employees for their involvement in “carrying out the entire operation today.”
