MADRID 18 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Jordanian authorities reported this Monday that a “flying object” has hit the border province of Aqaba (south) without causing any casualties or damage, after the Israeli Army reported a failed interceptor in the area of Eilat, on the other side of the border, due to the presence of a drone launched by the Islamic Resistance of Iraq.

A military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces has indicated that the object has fallen “in one of the border areas within the governorate of Aqaba” and that the incident “has not caused human or material damage”, although the forces Security personnel have traveled to the site to inspect the area, according to the Petra news agency.

Hours earlier, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) explained that “during the interception of a drone in the Eilat area recently, several interceptors were launched towards the target, but one of them fell in the area.” “So far no reports of victims have been received. The incident is being investigated,” reads a statement published on its website.

They also indicated minutes before that the Air Force intercepted a drone that was heading to the country’s territory from the east. “It was intercepted before crossing into Israel and alerts were activated,” the IDF said.

The Islamic Resistance of Iraq, a coalition of pro-Iranian Iraqi militias, has called for the launch of drones against “a vital target” in Eilat, in support of the Palestinian and Lebanese population and as a form of protest against the “massacres committed by the usurping entity ( Israel) against civilians, including children, women and the elderly.

In addition, the Yemeni Houthi rebels announced during the day that they have attacked the port cities of Ashkelon and Jafa with drones, the latter on the outskirts of Tel Aviv. However, the IDF has not commented on these launches.

Hostilities in the region broke out after the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions launched a series of attacks against Israel on October 7 that left almost 1,200 dead and more than 240 hostages. The Israeli Army then began a bloody military campaign against Gaza that has so far left more than 43,800 dead, to which are added more than 760 Palestinian deaths in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

The attacks of October 7, called ‘Al Aqsa Flood’ by Hamas and its allies, also led to the opening of the front on the border between Israel and Lebanon, with constant fighting for months and a new Israeli invasion since October 1. October. In addition, the Houthis and pro-Iran militias in Iraq have launched missiles and drones against Israel – which has carried out bombings against the territory of Lebanon, Syria and Yemen – in response to its offensive against Gaza.
