With clashes between supporters of the Luis Arce government and opponents, the tenth day of indefinite strike and blockades passes in the department of Santa Cruz, an opposition region that demands that the national census scheduled for 2022 be carried out in 2023 and not in 2024, as has been postponed. the executive for technical reasons.
Faced with the total paralysis of activities and with no dialogue in sight, merchants, carriers and peasants related to the government stage provincial marches to reach the Santa Cruz capital with police protection, demanding the resignation of Governor Luis Fernando Camacho. These organizations have also closed roads by making a fence to prevent food from entering the city.
The ruling party has ordered a suspension of exports of products such as soybeans, sugar, oil and beef, explaining that it wants to avoid internal shortages, but the measure has been described as retaliation by exporting businessmen.
While the tension grows and gasoline shortages begin to be seen, Santa Cruz remains firm with the strike. Due to immigration, it is the most populated region and it is betting on the census to see its resources and parliamentary seats increased.
