A conference to promote cooperation between six Vietnamese towns and four provinces in the south of the country has been held in Pakse, Champassak province, Laos.

The event, organized by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Pakse, was aimed at marking the Vietnam-Laos Year of Solidarity and Friendship 2022 and promoting bilateral cooperation in trade and investment.

The conference brought together leaders from six Vietnamese localities, namely the southern province of Bình Dương, the central provinces of Quảng Bình, Quảng Nam and Quảng Trị, and the Central Highland provinces of Kon Tum and Lâm Đồng, and four southern provinces of Laos: Champassak, Sekong, Attapeu and Salavan, as well as various business representatives from both countries.

The Consul General of Vietnam in Pakse, Nguyễn Văn Trung, highlighted the importance of the conference, stating that it provided an opportunity for localities in both countries to provide and obtain up-to-date information on their potential, strengths and advantages, as well as to propose cooperation between them.

During the conference, the participants discussed various measures to improve the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation in trade, tourism and agriculture.

In the framework of the conference, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quảng Nam Province and the Department of Information, Culture and Tourism of Champassak.
