A “battle of barbers” against inactivity and violence in Caracas

“Before I used to spend my days on the street, lazing around and doing nothing, but the barbershop saved me,” says 17-year-old Alexnaiker, after winning a barbershop contest in an impoverished Caracas neighborhood. Teenagers from the Venezuelan capital spent four months training for the contest organized by an NGO that seeks to offer young people the opportunity to “do something productive for their families and for their community.”
