A baby is rescued from the womb of his dead mother after an Israeli bombing in the Gaza Strip

Jul 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Medical staff at Al Awda Hospital in Nuseirat, in the central Gaza Strip, managed to save the baby of a woman who died in an Israeli air strike on Saturday.

Medical sources quoted by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA said the body of the six-month pregnant mother arrived at the hospital early Saturday morning after an Israeli bombing of her home.

She was immediately taken to an operating room, where the staff performed a Caesarean section and managed to extract the baby alive. He has already been placed in an incubator and is in stable condition at this health center, the only one with an obstetrics and gynecology service in the center of the Palestinian enclave.

Palestinian media have reported in recent hours of several Israeli attacks in the centre of the Gaza Strip that have left eight dead in the Nuseirat displaced persons camp and another three in Bureij.

The Palestinian daily Filastin, which is affiliated with Hamas, also reported five deaths in an Israeli attack on a family home north of the Nuseirat camp.

In total, Gaza authorities have reported 38,919 dead and 89,622 wounded as a result of the military offensive launched by Israel against the Gaza Strip following the attacks carried out on October 7 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions against Israeli territory.
