A 6.8 earthquake shakes Afghanistan and is felt in Pakistan and India

An earthquake of magnitude 6.8 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter in the province of Badakhshan, in northeastern Afghanistan, has shaken the country on Tuesday, also being felt in neighboring Pakistan and India.

The local authorities of the Pakistani region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have transferred to the newspaper ‘Dawn’ that at least two people have died and 150 people have been injured, although the balance due to the earthquake, which has been felt in Islamabad and Lahore, could increase. .

For his part, a Taliban spokesman, Zabihulá Mujahid, has indicated on his Twitter profile that he has given orders to all Afghan officials to “help the possible people affected” by the earthquake in areas such as Badajshan, Tahar, Kunduz and Panjshir.

The tremors have also been felt in northern India, in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Kashmir or Punjab, although for the moment the authorities have not confirmed victims, as reported by the newspaper ‘The Hindustan Times’.
