A 14-year-old Muslim girl suffered a beating that left her in a coma. The girl was attacked this Tuesday by three teenagers, also minors, when leaving her school. The young people hit her after calling her “bitch” and criticize her for “make up” and “dress as a European”according to the victim's mother.
The French Minister of Education, Nicole Belloubetannounced this Thursday that an investigation has been launched to clarify everything “what happened in the weeks and months prior” to the beating.
The minister has given eight days to the ministry inspectors in charge of the investigation, from which “all the consequences” of the attack will emerge. “I can assure you that my arm will not shake”Belloubet promised. “The investigation aims to establish the reality of the facts and clarify responsibilities,” she concluded.
The young woman, named Samara, left school at 4:00 p.m., when she was brutally attacked. She went into a coma on Tuesday after the beating, but Wednesday night he woke up. She is still seriously injured.
The attackers, between 14 and 15 years old – one of them went to the same school – were taken into police custody on Wednesday for attempted murder.
The victim's mother has reported in several interviews that her daughter was being harassed, especially by a schoolmate, highlighting that religion was the reason for the conflict.
“There is nothing to justify a young girl, a teenager, being attacked by several young people her age,” declared French President Emmanuel Macron. “We are consolidating the information. Justice is also working on the case, so I would be cautious when categorizing things. I want the whole truth to be calmly established and conclusions drawn,” Macron explained.
