Regional Government of La Araucanía and CGNA invite to the second version of Science Week 2022


From July 25 to 29, the CGNA and the Regional Government of La Araucanía have prepared five chapters of the “Science Week – Living with Science” program, to disseminate and bring scientific research closer to different audiences

Through all the social networks of the Agroacuícola Nutritional Genomics Center, CGNA, of Temuco in the region of La Araucanía, supported by the national media and content agency, Ciencia en Chile, they will release a new chapter every day at 5:00 p.m. scientific topics that are available to the community.

This year there are live broadcasts of 5 chapters where the organizers will delve into the agri-food activity from science, technology and innovation, based on the experience of working with the community and its resources.

Among the topics, they talk about why some plants do not get sick?; The science behind food, specifically bioactive compounds, will also be delved into; Another of the questions that give life to a program is about proteins of vegetable or animal origin? and, the value chain of vegetable protein and the entire process from the laboratory to the field will also be addressed as a topic; Finally, in the last episode, the experience of entrepreneurs in the region with Science will be addressed.

Miryam Ríos, in charge of communications at the CGNA and host of the Science Week, expressed “that this space is very relevant for the Center’s researchers, because it allows them to explain to all audiences that we live with science every day and also the connection of the CGNA with the regional and national community, so we also hope that it will be valued in this way by the community because it is a great effort by all”, he said

Haroldo Salvo-Garrido, CGNA scientific director added that this CGNA Science Week aims to show the scope and impact of science in the territory and in people’s lives through technological advances and its benefits for producers, SMEs and regional companies, highlighting the role played by public sector investment, in this case, the Regional Government of La Araucanía in promoting knowledge, science, innovation and development to add value to the different natural, cultural and human resources available in the region.
