Houthi leader criticizes Biden tour, says it shows his ‘loyalty to Zionists’

Saudi heir warns 'unrealistic policies' to cut emissions will cause inflation

The Supreme Political Council rejects the possibility of extending the truce reached in April

July 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The leader of the Houthis, Abdulmalik al Huthi, has harshly criticized the tour carried out by the president of the United States, Joe Biden, in the Middle East and has said that it has shown his “loyalty to the Zionists”, after the Supreme Political Council of the group announced over the weekend that it will not extend the truce reached in April with the international coalition led by Saudi Arabia.

Al Huthi has stressed that “the United States is a follower of Zionism, which is reflected in its orientations and positions” and has criticized the countries in the region that have normalized their relations with Israel, referring to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) , Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan. “These regimes present the Zionists as those whose leadership must be accepted by the Islamic ‘umma’,” he added.

Thus, he stressed that this is “a very dangerous deviation”, while Mohamad Ali al Huthi, a senior official of the Supreme Political Council, stressed that Biden’s visit sought to “serve the Jews and Israel” and “spend the money from Arabs and Muslims to protect Israel,” according to the Yemeni television channel Al Masirah.

Ali al-Houthi has also criticized the summit held on Saturday in Saudi Arabia between the United States, the Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) and several invited countries, before adding that “the entire summit was for Israel.” “We condemn everything that comes out of this insignificant summit, held to serve the usurped”, he has settled.

The Supreme Political Council affirmed on Saturday that it rejected any pact derived from Biden’s visit to the region and criticized his talks with Riyadh about the possible extension of the truce, which he described as a “disappointing” experience that “cannot be repeated in the future”, as reported by the Yemeni news agency SABA.

The organization emphasized that external interference in Yemeni affairs is “a great obstacle to peace” and called for a “clear and serious” will from the countries that are part of the international coalition so that they “respect the sovereignty and independence of Yemen” and seek “practical ways to end the aggression, lift the siege and end the occupation and military presidency in Yemen.”

“We have presented many initiatives and concessions to alleviate the suffering and encourage the coalition of aggression to participate in peace, without results. The aggressor countries stick to the blockade and prevent the flow of ships to the port of Hodeida and, while opening their airspace to the Israeli enemy, insist without justification and arbitrarily to close Yemeni airspace and ports, in a war crime before the entire international community, which is an accomplice of the enemy,” he denounced.

Therefore, the Supreme Political Council stressed that the talks between Washington and Riyadh on a possible peace in Yemen “lack any credibility” and added that “the United States is not in the process of changing its behavior towards Yemen and the region as a whole, Therefore, the visit of the American president is something to be condemned, denounced and rejected by the Yemeni people and all the free peoples of the region”.

The parties in conflict agreed at the beginning of June to extend the truce announced in April for another two months, coinciding with the beginning of the month of Ramadan, as announced by the United Nations special envoy for the country, Hans Grundberg, without any success since then. pacts in some of the key points of the negotiations with a view to a peace process.

The war in Yemen pits the internationally recognized government, now represented by the Presidential Leadership Council and supported by the aforementioned international coalition, against the Huthis, backed by Iran. The Houthis control the capital, Sana’a, and parts of the north and west of the country.
