OFFENBACH (GERMANY), July 17. (DPA/EP) –
The German Meteorological Service (DWD) has announced that the heat wave that is sweeping Europe will reach the country next Tuesday, where maximum temperatures of up to 40º are expected.
This coming Monday it is expected that there will be generalized maximums of 30 to 35 degrees Celsius. “In the west, 37, maybe 38 degrees is possible. In the northeast, however, it will still be a little cooler, between 25 and 30 degrees,” said DWD meteorologist Marco Manitta.
Sunny conditions are expected and only from Schleswig-Holstein to Western Pomerania (northern Germany) will pass denser clouds at times, he noted.
At dawn on Tuesday, minimums of between 19 and 11 degrees Celsius are predicted. In the western and southwestern metropolitan areas, as well as in mid-altitude areas, temperatures could also exceed 20 degrees at night, according to forecasts.
It will be Tuesday when temperatures will reach more than 35 degrees, in the west even up to 40 degrees, according to forecasts. Sun is expected throughout the day. In the early hours of Wednesday, the temperature will remain mild.
According to the DWD, a cold front will reach Germany on Wednesday, causing slight cooling in the west. There, maximums of 29 to 32 degrees are predicted. In the east it will continue to be very hot, with highs of 34 to 39 degrees.
It is not clear if it will rain on Wednesday. For now, weather forecasts point to showers and local storms, but not widespread rain. “Therefore, very dry weather and the sometimes very high risk of forest fires will continue,” Manitta said.
