Agroexpo: a fair to promote agriculture in Colombia

The National Union of Colombian Livestock Associations (Unaga) and the International Business and Exhibition Center of Bogotá Corferias are currently celebrating an agricultural fair in Colombia, which this time exhibits more than 3,000 live animals, including cattle, horses, sheep, goats and buffalo.

The event, which takes place from July 13 to 23, is known as Agroexpo and has been held biannually for 45 years. It intends to promote business in the agricultural sector and provide business contacts to producers inside and outside Colombia. The current edition is entitled “We cultivate the country’s agri-food future”.

The organizers of this event told the voice of america that the objective of the agricultural fair is to focus efforts to continue promoting agriculture that in the first half of last year “exported 6,116 million dollars, with an increase of 38.8% compared to the figures for 2021, which reported income of 4,406 million dollars”.

“The growth of the agricultural sector in Colombia is the result of joint work between the government, producers, ranchers, and other actors involved together with spaces such as Agroexpo,” said Doris Chingate, Corferias Project Manager.

According to the organizers, Agroexpo 2023 presents “opportunities for expansion in international markets” due to the growing “demand for sustainable and high-quality agricultural products.”

“Agriculture participated with 21.4% of the total value of the country’s exports, the main destinations being the United States, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Canada, Spain, Japan, the United Kingdom, Italy and Egypt,” detailed the report. Team organizer.
