At least 17 people died on Sunday due to a traffic accident in western Uganda in which a taxi and a truck were involved, as confirmed by the authorities of the African country on Monday.

The Police have indicated that 16 people died on the spot due to the collision, registered in the town of Muhorro, located in the Kagaadi district, while the last body was found this Monday during the removal of the remains of the vehicles. .

Witnesses quoted by the Ugandan newspaper ‘Daily Monitor’ have indicated that the accident took place after the truck suffered a brake failure, which caused it to crash into the taxi, an extreme confirmed by the Police.

Thus, the spokesman for the Police in the Albertine region, Julius Hakiza, has reported that the truck “suffered a mechanical failure and could not stop, after which it collided with a taxi.” “There will be more details later, since the incident is still being addressed,” he has settled.
