Almost 400 firefighters are trying to contain a huge focus declared in the last few hours in the Turkish province of Hatay, one of the most affected by the devastating earthquakes in February.

The fire has led to the immediate evacuation of the population of the municipality of Belén.

Hatay Governor Mustafa Masatli has indicated that all teams “are responding to the forest fire from the air and from the ground” and has requested the support of teams from surrounding provinces.

“We evacuated our citizens from the settlements in the area,” according to what he has made known in his statement, collected by the newspaper ‘Haberturk’.

At the moment there is no record of deaths or injuries.
