It’s wonderful, even enchanting, to watch your tiny troops follow your orders and move across the battlefield, while you decide what to do next. There is no limit to using Tactical Pause, but you are not required to use it either. If you feel confident enough, you can skip this feature, but newbies will surely appreciate that it exists.
Without this feature, I might not have enjoyed this game as much.
Correctly adapted to home consoles?
This genre is usually reserved for platforms like PC or mobile due to the precision required to select and command numerous troops in fast-paced environments, as well as for reading a lot of information displayed on the screen.
It took me about 5 hours to get familiar enough with the controls and the HUD. It wasn’t easy, but I didn’t expect it to be. War games are often demanding, but I think COH3 did a good job of adapting the controls and the overall challenge to a home console.
The hardest? Read the texts on the screen. It’s a lot of information, a lot happens very quickly, and you’re not usually as close to a television as you are to a monitor on a desk. It was difficult at first and continued to be so after several hours of play.
Some errors
My experience with COH3 has not been the smoothest or most rewarding. After several weeks, there are few gaming sessions where I don’t run into some glitch or bug that at best hinders my fun, but at worst brings it to a complete halt.
