AMD have available their 7040 series high-performance notebook processors, to which AI has been added for the first time. These processors based on Phoenix They have two variants, the 7040H and 7040HS. Whereas in past generations there was a minimal specification difference between H and HSin this new generation it seems that they will have the same configuration, but they will be targeting different markets.
According to the page of AMD product specificationsthe versions of the AMD 7040H will be destined to the Chinese marketwhile the versions 7040HS will be available for the rest of the markets. In previous generations, the H and HS differed mainly in TDP, being in the HS version a lower TDP as a general rule. In these new Ryzen 7040H and 7040HS the TDP is the same, from 35 to 54W and also has some identical specs in terms of clock speeds or RAM, in the different versions of these processors.
Another notable difference, in addition to being oriented to different markets, is that the chinese version doesn’t seem to have the IA module. In the specifications of the 7040H series processors module information for IA not showing up which does appear in the rest of the 7040HS series processors.
In this way, it seems that in the current generation of AMD high-performance laptop processors, we will see references intended only for the Chinese market and others that will be available with a similar configuration (adding the AI module) for the rest of the world.
