A former British X Factor contestant, Lucy Spraggan, has revealed that was raped by a hotel porter during the production period of the popular television program of the channel ITV in 2012. The artist, who was 20 years old at the time, recounts in a memoir that the attack occurred one night when she was celebrating the birthday of her partner Rylan Clark at a club in the London neighborhood of Mayfair, where they attended members of the X Factor production team.
According to the singer, who is now 31 years old, in statements to the newspaper Guardianshe was disappointed in how the incident was handled by the ITV: “It was not appropriate for anyone, including the contestants, to be drunk. How can (the channel) fulfill its duty of care when alcohol is involved?”
The artist, who details the event in the book: ‘Process: Finding My Way Through’, recalls that she became unconscious and was escorted back to the hotel by a member of the production team so whate, once at the hotel, a porter offered to help him back to his room. Spraggan says that that doorman later used an “electronic key” to enter her room and assault her.
“I woke up the next day with this feeling of panic. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this level of confusion since.”
