Orbán accuses the West of not wanting to end the conflict in Ukraine: "They want war"

The prime minister of Hungary, the ultranationalist Viktor Orbán, has accused the West of wanting the war to continue in Ukraine and that, therefore, his government is preparing for a long armed conflict in the neighboring country.

Westerners want war. There is an overwhelming majority of those who support the war,” Orbán said in statements to Kossuth public radio from the city of Sopron, where the government has met for three days.

Orbán spoke about the NATO summit last Tuesday and Wednesday, where the member countries discussed, among other issues, the possible accession of Ukraine to the Alliance, which for the moment was rejected.

In this sense, the prime minister has assured that “the Ukrainian demands (of their integration into NATO) are understandable, but if they met them they would be involved in the Third World War.”

At the same time, Orbán has criticized the communication of Ukrainian leadersby ensuring that it is many times is “aggressive and demanding” and added that with Western arms deliveries Ukraine “does not come closer to peace”. The Magyar leader has reiterated that Ukraine “has lost its sovereignty” as it has no money and fight with western weapons.

Despite the fact that Hungary is one of the two member countries of the alliance, along with Turkey, that have not yet ratified Sweden’s accession to NATO, Orbán has not announced when the issue could be discussed in the Budapest Parliament.
