After almost 3 years of controversy and patches, Cyberpunk 2077 achieves a new achievement on Steam

cyberpunk 2077 is easily one of the most controversial video games of recent years. At the end of 2020, it hit stores with a multitude of bugs and performance issues, especially on older generation platforms. And yes, some gameplay elements fell short and were unable to live up to expectations. Luckily, CDPR kept its foot in the cannon and managed to save the project.

The road to redemption was far from a walk in the park. CD Projekt RED members worked for months to fix the most serious bugs and improve performance on all platforms.

Last year, the sci-fi RPG got a huge boost in popularity thanks to the release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an original anime that received praise from the community. The premiere coincided with an update that included quality of life improvements and new content inspired by the Netflix show.

Cyberpunk 2077 finally found forgiveness from players

After experiencing difficult times, Cyberpunk 2077 is now at its best. What happens is that it has “very positive” reviews on Steam, which contrasts with the mixed ratings it obtained on its original debut in December 2020. It was Marcin Momot, director of the global community of CD Projekt RED, who highlighted this new and important milestone in his Twitter account.

At the time of writing these lines, the open world video game has a total of 549,333 reviews, of which 80% are favorable. 86% of the ratings in the last 30 days are positive. “Thank you all for acknowledging all the hard work the team has put in over the years since launch!” commented Marcin Momot.

Definitely, cyberpunk 2077 is at a healthy point. Now, the efforts of the developers are in the future. We already know that the first and last expansion, Phantom Libertywill debut in September and will introduce a new story, an unpublished map and new mechanics that promise to expand the experience.
