A Bugatti skipped a radar in Belgium at 388 km/h. Your driver can get away with going too fast

At exactly what speed do the DGT radars fine: this is how you can know with the rule of 7

A millionaire has circulated to 417km/h by an autobahn without fine. It was one of the most read topics of last year. Radim Passer, known on Youtube Through videos of his supercars, he set out to prove how fast his Bugatti Chiron could go. He chose the day and time that he expected the least amount of traffic. He sped up, sped up, sped up… and along the way he recorded himself proving that he had broken the 400 km/h barrier.

The German government raised an uproar and even faced a trial accused of allegedly endangering other drivers. Since the road has no speed limits, they tried to punish their behavior in the only way possible. However, Passer escaped unscathed of the accusation.

But this case, although in the media, has nothing to do with the bizarre story that has come from France. The driver of, surprise, a Bugatti Chiron has been hunted at 388 km/h. The fine? None.

break speed radar

To know the beginning of the story, you have to go back to 2022. TF1Infoa Belgian driver was “caught” by a radar at 388 km/h on a road limited to 120 km/h. That is to say, the offender not only tripled the maximum speed allowed, it is estimated that in the instrument panel he would have to be seeing a speed greater than 400 km/h.

If the usual course is followed, the driver should be severely punished by the authorities, but now it does not seem so clear. Defense lawyers have argued that the cinemometers used on the roads are not designed to accurately record these speeds and, therefore, the figure reflected in the fine may not be exact.

According to TF1InfoBelgian radars can record top speeds of between 250 and 300 km/h. Above, the estimates would not keep the expected accuracy. To solve the mess, the prosecution has requested that the radars be examined and their exact technical characteristics explained.

If the lawyers show that the radar is not prepared to register this speed, the driver would be freed from any type of punishment for a defect of form. But in Belgium they already know what they are facing and, for now, the background is on the driver’s side.

In motor1.comthey rescued a similar story a few months ago. Another driver has already escaped the corresponding fines after being photographed by radar at 306 km/h. Then, his lawyers claimed the same reason as the story that the Belgian judges are now dealing with: radars are not capable of registering speeds greater than 300 km/h and, therefore, the measurement is not reliable.

The resolution? The driver was released from all punishment because there was no legal basis that could confirm the speed at which the supercar was traveling. For now, the owner of the Bugatti Chiron looks with hope because the punishment can lead to up to five years of driving license withdrawal.

The fine structure It’s a curious thing in Belgium. If the maximum speed allowed is exceeded by up to 10 km/h, the penalty is 53 euros. Thereafter, a charge of 6 euros will be applied for each km/h exceeded. That is, from 130 km/h to 388 km/h, the driver would have to pay a surcharge of 1548 euros (added to the previous 53 euros). The problem is that, now, you need to know if the radar is well calibrated and can record these speeds to know exactly what the fine to apply should be.
