The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has confirmed that several Russian soldiers have lost their lives in a Ukrainian attack on the Duna hotel in Berdyansk (in the southeast of Ukraine), in which, according to various Telegram channels, Russian General Oleg Tsokov would have died.
“In the temporarily occupied Berdyanskin the Zaporizhia Oblast, as a result of a direct attack, during the night, it has been confirmed that the bodies of Russian soldiers have been transported by trucks to the local morgue”, read the note from the Ukrainian General Staff, which did not specifies the date on which the events occurred.
Russia, for its part, has attacked kyiv for the third consecutive day. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, its air defenses shot down a total of 20 Iranian-made Shahed drones and two Kalibr cruise missiles throughout the national territory last night.

Berdiansk is located on the shores of the Azov Sea in southeastern Ukraine and was occupied by Russian forces on February 27 last year, two days after the full-scale invasion began.
Since the arrival in the country of long-range British missiles Storm Shadow was announced last May, Ukraine has intensified its attacks against Russian infrastructure, weapons, logistics knots and concentrations of troops located far from the front.
Storm Shadows are precision missiles that are launched from aircraft and hit targets at a maximum distance of more than 250 kilometers. The longest-range Western weapon Ukraine had until it received these missiles were the HIMARS received from the United States, which fire at about 50 miles away.
During the NATO summit – held this week in Vilnius – France announced that it will send SCALP missiles to Ukraine, a war technology with characteristics similar to Storm Shadow.
New attack on kyiv
At dawn today Russia has attacked kyiv for the third consecutive day with a dozen kamikaze drones Shahed. Despite being shot down in their entirety by Ukrainian air defences, they caused damage to at least two blocks of flats and other infrastructure as their debris fell after being intercepted.
“There has been damage to residential buildings”said the head of the Military Administration of the capital, SerguĆ Popko, who also reported two young people aged 19 and 23 who had to be hospitalized when they were hit by fragments of the drones.
The interceptions set off loud explosions that were heard in central kyiv just before 2am.
