The Somali security forces have killed 50 suspected members of Al Shabaab in the last few hours, including several senior members of the terrorist group, in the framework of an operation carried out in the Lower Juba region (south) together with local militias. .
According to information collected by the Somali state news agency, SONNA, among those killed in the operation, led by members of the Danab special forces, is the head of the Al Shabaab finance department in the Uil Maarou area.
Likewise, the Somali Army has captured several presumed members of the terrorist group, linked to Al Qaeda, while it has seized weapons and vehicles, just a few days after a series of bombardments in this region that also left dozens dead among the Al Shabaab ranks.
Somalia has increased offensives against Al Shabaab in recent months with the support of clans and local militias as part of a series of decisions taken by the president, Hasan Sheikh Mohamud, who promised upon taking office to put the fight against terrorism at the center of his efforts to stabilize the African country.
