July 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least 20 people have died after a bus collided head-on with a truck loaded with sand in Age Mowo, in the Nigerian state of Lagos, in the south of the African country.
The director of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Taofiq Adebayo, has confirmed the death toll, explaining that the bus had a brake problem when it was overtaking another vehicle, reports the newspaper ‘Punch’.
“The driver of the commercial bus lost control due to reindeer failure when he saw a truck in front of him (…) Immediately, 20 people, including passengers with the bus driver and the (second) driver, were killed,” has explained.
According to Adebayo, a preliminary investigation has indicated that the bus was carrying 18 relatives and friends to take them to a family party in the neighboring country, Benin.
