( Spanish) — The prominent Mexican politician Porfirio Muñoz Ledo died at the age of 89, his family reported in a message published this Sunday on his official Twitter account.
The Senate of Mexico mourned the death of the historic political leader, referring to Muñoz Ledo as a fundamental life in the construction of “Mexico of our days.”
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador wrote on his Twitter account: “I regret the death of Porfirio Muñoz Ledo, with whom I had coincidences for a long time. The recent discrepancies do not erase the good and long moments of friendship and camaraderie, much less his political legacy. I hug his family and friends.”
Other Mexican political figures sent their condolences through social networks. Adán Augusto López, former Secretary of the Interior, he remembered as “an eminently political man who paved the way for the national democratic construction.”
Felipe Calderón, former president of Mexico, He also wrote on Twitter: “Beyond differences. We worked together from the opposition, at the head of Acción Nacional and the PRD, respectively, in the Constitutional Reform that made the transition to democracy possible through the creation of the IFE, now an independent INE, and the regulation of campaigns.
