July 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least 20 people have been killed by a bombardment by the Sudanese Air Force on, according to the Army, positions of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the city of Omdurman, on the outskirts of the country’s capital, Khartoum, while the paramilitaries assure that the bombardment has actually killed 31 civilians and left dozens injured after reaching residential areas.
The bombardment has been described by the Army as a “qualitative operation” that has left at least 20 dead among the paramilitary ranks, according to the military, while the Khartoum Ministry of Health has reported 22 dead and dozens injured. In this bombardment, without identifying the victims, it includes the pan-Arab outlet ‘Al Hadath’ and the Sudanese portal Sudan Ajbar.
In contrast, the RSF denounces that the Sudanese military bombardment has hit civilian residences in West Omdurman and that the attack has actually resulted in 31 deaths and numerous injuries, as well as significant material damage.
“This act represents a serious crime against humanity and a clear violation of our religious values, cultural norms and international conventions,” RSF said on its Twitter account.
The conflict that broke out between both sides on April 15 has so far left 1,133 dead, according to the Ministry of Health, but the real figures could be much higher taking into account the intercommunal violence unleashed in the regions of Kordofan and Darfur.
More than 2.9 million people have been displaced, including nearly 700,000 who have fled to neighboring countries, amid reports of daily atrocities and large-scale sexual abuse of the country’s women and girls.
