The Latin American and Caribbean Institute for Economic and Social Planning (ILPES) of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) held, from June 28 to 29 in Costa Rica, the Toolbox workshop for the design of a policy territorial development, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Planning and Public Policy (MIDEPLAN).

The workshop is part of the AECID 2022-2023 Project and was led by ECLAC specialists Alicia Williner and Joaquín Tognoli. 32 MIDEPLAN officials from the headquarters and other regions of the country participated.

The objective of the activity was to publicize the toolbox proposed by ILPES for the design of comprehensive public policies, as well as to reflect on the validity and suitability of the instrument, defining which elements should be incorporated into the design of a public policy on regional development in Costa Rica.

Likewise, modifications to the toolbox proposed by ILPES were proposed based on the debates and conclusions of the work days.

During the days of the workshop, ILPES presented the toolbox and invited its validation through practical activities and group work dynamics, as well as spaces for exchange and collective reflection on the instrument.
