Morocco condemns the Israeli operation against Jenin and reaffirms its support for Palestinian independence

Mohamed VI elevates the Palestinian question to a national priority

July 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Morocco has condemned the Israeli Army’s operation against the West Bank city of Jenin, which left at least twelve Palestinians dead, more than a hundred injured and thousands displaced, and has reaffirmed its support for the independence of the Palestinian territories.

“Morocco’s full support for the Palestinian brotherhood for (…) the right to establish an independent Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem in accordance with the two-state solution agreed by the international community”, declared the representative of Morocco before the UN, Omar Hilale, according to the Moroccan agency MAP.

In addition, he assured that Morocco “joins the voices of the rest of the Islamic world and of Arab countries that condemn the recent Israeli attacks against Jenin, considering that the spiral of violence could aggravate the situation and affect the possibilities of relaunching the process of peace”.

“His Majesty King Mohamed VI, in his capacity as Chairman of the Al Quds Committee of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation, has raised the Palestinian issue to the rank of top national priority,” Hilale added during a meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement in Baku (Azerbaijan).

The Moroccan representative has also rejected “any unilateral measure” that affects the legal status of Al Quds and the “legitimate rights” of the Palestinian people in their “aspirations for freedom and independence.”
