() — The Secretary of the Navy through the Mexican Navy reported that 14 marines died and one remains hospitalized after a helicopter accident that occurred this Friday in Los Mochis, Sinaloa.
“Today during the operational activities carried out by this Institution, a Mexican Navy aircraft had an accident in Los Mochis, Sinaloa. Based on the information available at the time, a Black Hawk helicopter suffered an accident, unknown at the time the causes of it”, says a statement.
The Navy said 15 people were in the helicopter, of whom 14 were killed and one is receiving medical care. The Mexican Navy added that it will carry out the corresponding investigations to determine the cause of the accident.
The announcement was made in the same statement as the arrest of drug trafficker Rafael Caro Quintero on Friday. The Mexican Navy statement said that at this time there is no information connecting the two events.
“Likewise, derived from the versions that are handled in various media, it is important to clarify that until now there is no information that the plane crash is related to the arrest of the alleged drug trafficker.”
