Ubisoft has presented the new feature ‘History of Baghdad’which he will introduce in his next title Assassin’s Creed Mirage to bring the players closer to the history, art and culture of Baghdad -in which this video game is set- in an interactive way, for which it has collaborated with “various renowned institutions”.

The video game development company plans to launch the new installment of the Assassin’s Creed Mirage saga the next October 12 ° this year, coming to PC, PlayStation and Xbox. In this framework, he plans to “continue the tradition” of adding historical context to the simulation of the game’s past.

To do this, Ubisoft has announced the function ‘History of Baghdad’, with which he intends to add historical information to the video game. This function is based on a codex that also includes tutorials and a database of knowledge.

In this sense, players will be able to discover a total of 66 historical places. Each emblematic place will act as a gateway to data about the time, which will encompass knowledge of up to five categories: Art and science, Beliefs and daily life, Life at court, Economy and Government.

As the company has detailed, since this installment of Assassin’s Creed is “a tribute to the first games”, the ‘History of Baghdad’ function will be integrated into the main game in a similar way to how databases have been introduced. in previous games. Also, this function will be tied to player progressionincluding a in-game reward for your protagonist Basim upon completion.

All the information that has been included in ‘History of Baghdad’ is illustrated with images chosen from the collections of museums and institutions around the world, such as The David Collection, the Institut du monde arabe (IMA), the Khalili Collections and the Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture and Design.

On the one hand, the museum of Copenhagen The David Collection has contributed content from its collection of Islamic art, one of the “most comprehensive collections in the Western world”, according to Ubisoft. In fact, one of the objects that appears in the video game is a carved ivory chest with gilt bronze decorations.

Another of the personalities that has collaborated with Ubisoft for ‘History of Baghdad’ is the Professor Sir Nasser David Khalili, who has assembled eight of the largest art collections in the world. One of these collections is dedicated to Islamic art and, in fact, houses more than 28,000 objects. In this sense, one of the pieces shown in the game is his planispheric astrolabe of the eleventh century.

Also, the Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture and Design, based in Honolulu, Hawaii, has collaborated, among other things, with a blown glass vase with a dragged zigzag decoration.
