The giants of the video game industry continue to make movements in the market and we are not referring to the announcement of new video games. Microsoft, for example, announced a few months ago the purchase of Activision Blizzard, while PlayStation confirmed the purchase of Bungie.
That’s right, the same developer that handled the early Halo projects is now part of the Sony family. Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, immediately after the announcement shared a message on social media from him.
“I have always admired Bungie. Ambitious and innovative games and their focus on creativity, craft and community. I can’t wait to spend more time with Pete Parsons, Jason Jones and his team as we chart a bold course for SIE, PlayStation Studios and Bungie together.”, wrote the director in social networks.
“The deal to acquire Bungie has been closed. So now we can officially say… Welcome to the PlayStation family!”, PlayStation wrote on Twitter. “We’re proud to officially join the amazing team at PlayStation, excited for the future of our company, and inspired to bring gamers from around the world together to form lasting friendships and memories.Bungie added.
It is estimated that the deal was closed for 3.6 billion dollars and would remain as an independent developer within the PlayStation umbrella.
