Activist Greta Thunberg, charged with disobedience to authority during a protest in Sweden

Swedish activist Greta Thunberg has been charged this Wednesday with disobedience to authority in connection with a protest against climate change that took place on June 19 in the port of the city of Malmo, in southern Sweden.

Thunberg, together with various activists and defenders of the environment, then blocked the exit of several oil tankers from the dock, according to information from the newspaper ‘Aftonbladet’.

Now, the Police have indicated that they refused to leave the scene when ordered and that all of them had to be removed by force.

He is scheduled to go to the Malmo district court on July 28 for a court hearing against him. The crime charged against him can carry a penalty of up to six months in prison.
