The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, held a telephone conversation on Tuesday with the Prime Minister of Sweden, Ulf Kristersson, with whom he discussed the situation on the Ukrainian front after the rebellion of the Wagner Group mercenaries.
Zelenski, who has thanked the Swedish president for the support received in the context of the Russian invasion, especially during the Swedish presidency of the EU, has pointed out that the revolt registered in Russia is a sign of “the division that exists in the Russian society and the weakness of vertical power”.
He has also indicated that “in these circumstances, there is a need to exert greater political pressure on Russia” and give “greater military support to Ukraine”, as indicated in a statement from the Ukrainian Presidency.
The parties have agreed to coordinate efforts to “bring the two countries closer to NATO membership” and have discussed the pre-existing pacts between the two countries on defense matters.
