The Palestinian Authority suspends all contact and collaboration with Israel in protest of the offensive in Jenin

July 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Palestinian Authority has announced the suspension of all contacts and maintain the suspension of security collaboration with Israel in protest of the military offensive on the Jenin refugee camp, in the West Bank. It also proposes “limiting the relationship with the United States Administration.”

The decision has been announced in a statement published after a meeting in Ramallah of the leadership of the Palestinian Authority with President Mahmud Abbas at the helm, in which they invite the leaders of the Palestinian political parties to an emergency meeting to “agree on a position and close ranks in the face of Israeli aggression”.

In addition, the Palestinian Authority claims the right of the Palestinian people to “defend themselves” against attacks and recalls that the Palestinian Authority’s mission is “to protect the Palestinian people and dedicate all its capacity to this purpose.”

The Palestinian authorities also reproach Israel for failing to comply with the agreements reached in Aqaba and Sharm el Sheikh, for which reason they declare them invalid and null and void.

The Palestinian communiqué also calls for the application of UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which recalls that all measures to modify the demographic composition and status of the territories occupied by Israel -and specifically cites the displacement of Palestinian civilians- – They represent a violation of International Humanitarian Law and the Geneva Conventions that typify war crimes.

It also calls for the imposition of sanctions on Israel and the intervention of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to “open proceedings on the aforementioned cases” and the expulsion of Israel from the UN “for failing to comply with resolutions 181 and 194.”

This Monday the Palestinian Red Crescent has confirmed that thousands of civilians have fled Jenin before the resumption of the Israeli military offensive against Palestinian militias. Israeli military sources have confirmed the departure of the Palestinian population, but have insisted that there has been no evacuation order and that they leave the town of their own free will, fleeing the fighting.
