Firefighters in Greece fight more than a hundred active fires throughout the country

The Firefighters of Greece return one more year to fight a wave of fires with more than a hundred sources of activity that have begun to devastate the country in recent hours, in particular the one declared in the Cretan port of Rethymno, still out of control by strong winds.

Also of concern is the fire declared in the town of Sarótinos, southeast of Athens, whose residents have been evacuated from their homes as a precautionary measure.

16 planes and three helicopters are involved in the Rethymnon fire, which have facilitated the evacuation of another population, Orne in this case, while in Sarótinos, more than 90 firefighters, five ground crews, 22 assistants and volunteers and municipal workers around the Feriza area.


Also residents in the nearby area of ​​Agios Panteleimonas, which is located on the outskirts of the coastal city of Anavyssos, in Attica, have been ordered to evacuate towards Lagonisi due to strong winds and high temperatures.
