The launch of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 has come loaded with controversy even before the NDA of its reviews was released. Initially, NVIDIA allowed some YouTubers to show off the card’s performance before the embargo was released, as long as they tested under the conditions the company required.
Once the embargo ended, the RTX 4060 was considered by many to be too expensive a graphics card to barely offer performance improvements over previous generation models, with the only real novelty being DLSS 3 integration with frame generation.
Several of the main international youtubers dedicated to hardware have given their opinions, and quite a few of them are devastating: Linus Tech Tips goes so far as to claim that the RTX 4060 is a “wet GPU fart.”
Hardware Unboxed refers to it as “a slap in the face for gamers” and directly titles his RTX 4060 review video as “Nvidia is clowning again”. JayzTwoCents says directly that “The RTX 4060 is the ultimate argument for buying an AMD“. For his part, Moore’s Law is Dead ensures that the RTX 4060 makes “The performance of 2020 travels to 2023”.
What is certain is that we live in times where the graphics card market does not seem to please anyone. We went from the high prices produced by the lack of stock, to the high prices that manufacturers have decided to put on the new generations. Added to this are releases that have disappointed many users, as is the case with these RTX 4060, since it seems that the trend is to delegate the responsibility of having good performance to scaling systems such as DLSS or FSR rather than to the power of the GPUs. per se.
