July 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The President of Senegal, Macky Sall, announced this Saturday that on Monday, July 3, he will announce whether or not to run as a candidate for the presidential elections on February 25, 2024.
In a meeting with the signatory mayors of the petition for their third term, Sall explained that he still “could not answer” the question of whether or not he will be a candidate in the next elections.
However, the president has assured that he will do so “on Monday, Inch’Allah” (“God willing”), reported the Senegalese Press Agency (APS).
Sall’s possible candidacy has the support of the Association of Mayors of Senegal and its counterpart, which brings together the leaders of the departmental councils. They signed a petition demanding that he present his application for the 2024 electoral appointment and promising to support him, according to the same agency.
