The acting president of the self-proclaimed Somali state of Hiraan, Ali Jeyte Osman, has continued the ordeal that began two weeks ago by announcing his new administration this Saturday and insisting on his separation from the state authority of Hirshabelle.

Jeyte Osman announced on June 18 the constitution of Hiraan as a new state within the country’s federal structure after denouncing tensions over the division of powers with the Hirshabelle administration, which has disassociated itself.

In his decree this Saturday, Jeyte Osman has announced the appointment of Abdiaziz Ahmed Adow, known as Jaburi, as the new governor of the Hiraan region, and takes the opportunity to announce the creation of a new regional structure, known as the “Upper Region Shabelle, with Abdifatá Fará Adan as governor at the head.

Jeyte Osman has also appointed Suleiman Geddi Ibrahim as commander of the so-called “Dervish Army” — a name that refers to Somali’s historical anti-colonialist movement of the early 20th century — for the administration of Hiraan state. The regional spokesperson will be Mohamud Mohamed Sahane, according to the decree collected by the Hiraan on Line portal.

The Hirshabelle administration has not commented on these appointments.

Jeyte declared the creation of the state of Hiraan hours after his controversial dismissal as regional governor, announced by the Hirshabelle authorities in a brief statement that did not indicate the reasons for the dismissal, although sources close to the state president, Ali Gudlawe Husein, pointed to the portal Called the need to “speed up certain administrative tasks in Hiraan” as well as “unite the community to apply the laws of the country and the Constitution.”

In contrast, former state president Mohamed Abdi Ware accused his successor Gudlawe Hussein of having received money from the jihadist group Al Shabaab in exchange for dismissing Jeyte Osman, whose figure has been a key figure during the first months of the “total war”. against the terrorist organization.
