The Philippines promotes Filipino culture and tourism at the 2023 Seoul Friendship Festival

The Philippines showcased the Filipino holiday spirit at the 2023 Seoul Friendship Festival. Headed by the Metropolitan Government of Seoul, the festival invited the people of Seoul to tour the world and to a place of global harmony under the theme “Beyond Borders: Together, We Become One.”

To promote the top tourist destinations in the Philippines, the Philippine Department of Tourism in Korea (PDOT-Korea) showcased popular destinations such as Bohol, Cebu and Boracay in the World Culture and Tourism Zone through a beach-themed booth with travel brochures. The wonders of the Philippines, such as famous festivals, natural spots and diving destinations in Bohol, Palawan, Bacolod and Locos Sur, were also displayed in the photo exhibition area.

Filipino handicrafts and Philippine tropical fruits such as cavendish banana, pineapple, mango and papaya were also on display at the Philippines booth to give visitors a refreshing taste of the tropical islands. To welcome summer in Seoul, the Philippines also served refreshments with products from the Philippine tropical islands, such as the famous mango, calamansi and coconut juices and sweet dried mango and banana chips through KP Line Korea.

Philippine Ambassador to Korea Theresa Dizon-De Vega attended the opening ceremony and welcomed visitors to the Philippine booth. The ambassador played mini-games with some of the booth visitors, including the game of golf, which attracted a large number of people. The winners of the minigames went home with prizes such as Filipino bags, postcards, pens with tomato and basil seeds, mango and coconut chips, and Filipino tropical fruit juices.
