Ukraine assures that it has advanced more than a kilometer on the Melitopol and Bakhamut fronts

Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliarreported this Thursday new advances of his troops of more than 1 kilometer in three different areas of the eastern and southern fronts, and assured that the Ukrainian forces are causing substantial losses to the Russian Army.

“The offensive operation of our Armed Forces continues in the directions of Melitopol, berdyansk and Bakhamut“, wrote Maliar in his account of Telegram. The deputy minister announced a Ukrainian advance “of 1,300 meters in the direction of Berdyansk”, a port on the Azov Sea occupied by Russia.

Also in the south, Maliar explained that kyiv’s forces have managed to consolidate the positions conquered in recent days on the Rivnopil-Volodine axis, where “they cause serious losses to the enemy.”

These two towns are located in the southwestern part of the Donetsk oblast, close to the administrative border with the neighboring Zaporizhia. From this area the Ukrainian forces try to push the occupying Russian troops to the south.

According to Maliar, Russia is concentrating an increasing number of troops on the southern front to stop the Ukrainian offensive there. The deputy minister assured that Russia has deployed in that area “a brigade of marines” who had been in the province of Kherson, reports efe.

Regarding the eastern front, Maliar reported advances of 1,200 meters and 1,500 meters respectively in the direction of the towns of Klishchivka and Kurdiumivka, both located south of Bakhamut.

Maliar explained that Ukraine has taken the initiative in the battle that is being fought next to this city of Donetsk, while Russia continues to launch “unsuccessful” offensives in Liman, Avdivka and Marinka, also on the eastern front.
