2022 isn’t over yet, but Horizon: Forbidden West has already won a Best Game award

We’re already halfway through 2022, and while years ago haven’t been easy for video game development, there have been a lot of great releases. There are still almost 6 months to make the final count of what 2022 left and to be able to choose the best of the year, but there was already a ceremony that has just chosen the best of 2022, and it was a PlayStation exclusive.

The ceremony we are talking about is the Develop:Stars Awards 2022, an event that took place on July 13. This European ceremony is very important in the region and a few months ago it shared a list of nominees for the best of 2022 that was the result of the votes of attending members from previous years, as well as members registered for this year’s event.

PlayStation won big at Develop:Star Awards 2022

Well, after a few weeks, the ceremony was held in which the winners were announced and among them, PlayStation studio games stood out. The biggest award went to Horizon Forbidden Westas it managed to win the Best Game award by beating titles like OlliOlli World, Sifu, unpacking Y ForzaHorizon 5.

As if that were not enough, on the list of winners were the also exclusive (temporary) on PlayStation consoles DEATHLOOP (Best original IP) and the other exclusive Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (Best technical innovation). In addition to the above, the communication and support team of Media Molecule, a PlayStation Studios studio, was recognized.

Before you think that the fans favored the PlayStation products, you should know that the fans did not participate in the vote. The winners were chosen from a list of nominees by “a panel of game developers and industry experts,” which received a record number of votes in the first round of voting, according to a statement on the site. That said, there was no public participation, only industry experts.
