Today we have been able to see how a couple of images belonging to an Intel Granite Rapids-AP processor have come to lighta new line of processors from Intel for the data center that should lead Intel to steal the performance crown from AMD with its AMD EPYC processors.
The image that we see in the tweet under these lines reveals that the processors Granite Rapids-AP will use a –previously seen– socket LGA 7529, a significant upgrade from previous models that use around 4000 pins in the case of the LGA 4677, and that portends not only a much larger size, but a connectivity capacity that exceeds anything that has been seen on an Intel platform so far.
Another noteworthy fact that we find further down the chain of tweets is its consumption of 500W, a considerably high value that, however, can make sense depending on the number of nuclei that we find inside these chips, a fact that is unknown for now, although it is known that it will be composed solely of P-Cores.
These chips will arrive manufactured in the Intel 3 manufacturing process, which would be equivalent in a certain way to 3 nanometers, so that the heat density that a 500W chip to this process can emit is to be taken into account.
