() — British actor Julian Sands, known for his work in series like “24” and movies like “A Room with a View,” was found dead after disappearing last January in the San Gabriel Mountains in southern California, they announced. investigators on Tuesday.
He was 65 years old.
“The manner in which he died remains under investigation, pending additional test results,” the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. “We would like to extend our gratitude to all the volunteers who worked tirelessly to locate Mr. Sands,” he added.
The actor, who also starred in “Ocean’s Thirteen” and “Smallville,” has been the target of an ongoing search in the Mt. Baldy area since he did not return from a hike on Jan. 13.
According to his family, Sands loved to hike, especially in the area where he was last seen.
“When he was in Los Angeles, Mt Baldy was his favorite place, he went there whenever he could,” his brother told the British publication. Craven Herald & Pioneer. “Julian liked to say, ‘I’ve never had a holiday, but I take a break from time to time’, well, now she’s resting in a place he would really approve of.”
Human remains were found last week in the area where Sands was being searched for.
“We continue to hold Julian in our hearts with vivid memories of him as a wonderful father, husband, explorer, lover of the natural world and the arts, and as an original and collaborative artist,” his family said in a statement to Guardian at that moment.
The weather conditions made the search difficult in the weeks after his disappearance. Earlier this month, authorities announced a new effort to locate Sands.
More than 80 search and rescue volunteers, attendants and staff participated in the search efforts in recent days, supported by two helicopters and drone teams as search volunteers in “remote areas across Mount Baldy,” according to officials.
