Recently, the National Federation of Coffee Growers presented its monthly report related to coffee exports and production, where it was highlighted that the domestic consumption in the country increased by 5% at the end of May.
These results are in line with a study presented by the firm Kantar on the occasion of the celebration of the National Coffee Day in Colombia this June 27. On the research It was analyzed how often Colombians consume and buy this product.

The analysis showed that 88% of Colombians enjoy a cup of coffee weeklywhich reflects the love and appreciation there is for this traditional drink.
Similarly, it was highlighted that households in the country acquire on average around 3.8 kilograms of coffee per year. This data also made it possible to highlight that cities such as Armenia and Manizales are the ones that are most characterized by their highest consumption.
“Coffee in Colombia goes beyond being a simple drink. It has become an integral part of our identity and plays an essential role in the daily life of Colombians. From early in the morning to late at night, coffee accompanies them at every moment”commented Julián Forero, Account Manager of the Worldpanel division of Kantar Colombia.

For its part, in terms of consumer preferences, the Kantar study shows significant growth in the market for premium brands, a segment that registered an increase of 55% from 2021 to 2022.

Furthermore, although most Colombian households purchase this product in convenience stores and neighborhood stores, Ecommerce has experienced a notable increase in the last year, providing consumers with a convenient way to access their favorite coffee brands.
“Coffee occupies a special place in Colombian homes, being a drink that is consumed frequently and that is integrated into our daily lives”the report stressed.
